Running charitable activities

The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.

Robert facilitating a charity event

In 2014 I joined Salesforce and was introduced to corporate philanthropy as we were given a number of days to use on charitable events.

Since then I have been actively engaged in charity activies and between 2015 and 2019 I was on the Board of Trustees for the local charity Futurevesity.

I think there are essentially three ways to give back: Support with money, support with time (e.g. volunteering at food banks) and support with expertise.

Originally I supported with time by volunteered at Fareshare, but quickly realised that I could help more directly with my experitse as a designer.

Since then I've run a number of sessions teaching 100s children and young people paper prototyping as a way to introduce them to how to capture and test ideas fast always with a focus on the users.

For me personally, giving back gives me an incredible amount of positive energy and feelings. And I learn as much as the participants from each and every activity.

I can only recommend volunteering work in the most highly manner.
